I don't have a problem with the contraction - it's the plural of the contraction.

As we write things like "typo", "LED", "micro", etc as if they were words with no indication of contraction (apart from the capitals in LED), why would we suddenly want to identify the contractions when they become plural?

typos - not typo's;
LEDs - not LED's
micros - not micro's

Fortunately, where the language is concerned, your opinion and mine don't matter much.

However, the more common a given error becomes, the less it is recognized as an error.

Quite so - which is why I prefer to avoid apostrophe's (sic) in any sort of plural!
