Current is said to flow from the more-positive potential to the more-negative terminal. In point of fact it's just the opposite. Current, that is to say electrons, flow from the more negative potential to the more positive. Remember that whole "electron flow" v "hole flow" picture in solid state/semiconductor theory? By the way, I still say it's the hole-flow theory that is correct, not the electron-flow theory. It's intuitively obvious to the most casual observer that the holes carry the smoke, and that if you let the smoke out of any semiconductor it won't work anymore. Ergo, it is the hole-flow theory of electronics that is truly correct. ;-) Joe |
