In less formal contexts the abbreviations "b/s" or "bps" are often used, though this risks confusion with "bytes per second" ("B/s", "Bps"). My emphasis added - as this was precisely my point! or here also(many other places) similar defintion can be seen.

However, it's too easy to confuse the two acronyms and best to use 'bps' consistently. Again, my point is that people can't even get the capitalisation right on well-defined formal symbols like k/K or s/S - so it is impossible to rely on any consistent use of this informal convention! |
