I think there is a specification on minimum VCC rampup in the original Intel datasheet, ormaybe it was some obscure Philips or MHS/Temic...?, but it's too late now, don't make me search for it.

However, there are more reasons to use a supervisor than just do powerup reset. Read the FAQ. Did I tell here the story with a 8031 getting false inputs and storing invalid values into NVRAM upon powerdown from dying peripherals?
