In every class, there are those who seek to benefit from having attended the class.

Some expect that they'll learn something that will improve them in some tangible way. Others expect that simply having attended will improve them in some way.

Clearly, the likelihood of benefitting from the learning is greater than that from simply sitting in the chair.
