Both Erik and Andy know quite a bit and are not shy about put it out there. However, I find that both of them tend to "spoon-feed" some O/P's while "dissing" others. It all depends on whether they can put forth information consistent with their own preferences.

If you aska perfectly reasonable question about how to utilize an 8255 (clearly a sore point with both) then you'll get nothing useful.

I've no problem with suggesting an alternative that might be better, but I believe the O/P's question deserves an answer BEFORE personal preferences are promoted as alternatives. I think it's even more serious when no alternative is presented, since the O/P is then stopped short.
