Quite a few opinions on teaching have been given in this thread, some of them accurate, some ridiculous.

For those who really care, I recommend The Teaching Gap by Stigler and Hiebert. Available for about $25 US at most book stores.

And to add one more opinion: There's no such thing as a "teacher", for the simple reason that it's not possible to teach anything to anyone. What you do is help students to learn. That's why I prefer the word "instructor". The above mentioned book should clarify the idea.
