As you can see from the sim,the waveform stored in the internal rom is scaled according to the input_nco,the waneform is entirely upto you,in this case it was a sine wave with an offset.So it is in fact an arbitary function generator.
Dont worry about the odd shape of the waveform thats simply because the simulator treated the output waveform as a signed number.
