I'm with Ronnie, when I think, "trust but verify."

I just got off the phone with the guy who's apparently got responsibility for the datasheet, etc. He says the bulk-erase is possible with lock bits set.

The data specifically relating to their lock bits clearly says the device can't be programmed in parallel or serial mode once one of the lock bits is set. It does, in an earlier paragraph, imply that a "mass" erase will clear the lock bits along with the program. However, the detailed description suggests that the mass erase isn't possible. Maybe it's just semantics ...
