I've found an errata sheet from Maxim for some DS89C420 series (ending code yymmA2 on device package) saying that also P3.7 must be pulled high to enter in loader mode...

Unfortunately for me, my ic doesn't belong to this serie (yymmB5) and no more information or errata is available from Maxim web site.
