UNC and UNF are the same thread form as Whitworth, and some are the same pitch and diameter. Confused ? Nah.. worked with all these for years.. And don't forget the old Whitworth thread Oh! yes here we called it the BSW (British standard whitworth) and then we have the BSP (British standard pipe)our water pipes are still made with this thread the common ones used for plumbing are 1/2", 3/4" and 1" with all the standardization I wonder why they could not change this to metric.
