#107230 - British and Metric
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Here in India, we were left with the British legacy (thankfully!),(240v, left side driving etc) I grew up learning both the English units and the Metric units and the English language.
I think the US and UK changed over to something called the Unified system, I used to repair and maintain large Diesel generators from UK, US and Europe, and I remember working with English, Metric and Unified bolts and nuts. The US made Engines had these UNF(Unified National Fine) or UNC (coarse) threaded fasteners.
I prefer the Metric system, imagine working with 3/8", 3/4", 1/2", fasteners. These can still be purchased in Bangalore shops even though English system was banned in India, since India decided to follow the Metic system.

For electronic products which I now design and manufacture I prefer and use the English units for PCB, front panel etc and the Metric system for the fasteners, M3 M4 screws nuts etc.

Regards,
John.
