#107257 - BA Responding to: ???'s previous message |

I prefer the Metric system, imagine working with 3/8", 3/4", 1/2", fasteners. SI threads are stupid in small instruments, being a linear series. The oldest metric thread system was called "BA" (British association), and was a nice logical logarithmic series, which made it much easier to select a fastner to suit a job. The thread pitch was also finer, so in small sizes the screw is stronger. The largest BA size was 0BA ,the smallest 25BA. The 25BA is 0.25mm across, and has over 15 threads/mm http://www.sizes.com/tools/thread_BA.htm Might be of interest. Steve |
