#105103 - QBasic Lives!!!
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Hi Charles,

I know you might find it hard to believe that people still use QBasic but it still offers solutions which are cheap and easy. With 75 million PC being thrown into the dump every year they certainly are cheap and plentiful. With it primitive operating system it provides robust response that most users who only have simple things to control want.

I agree with you totally, QBasic IDE is free and very well understood by many. It just amazes me how it seems to outlast all hardware!

Here's one 'use' I found for an old PC (grin). Back in 1999, amongst other things, I built an automotive MP3 'jukebox' using an 'old' 486DX2 m/board, M$-DOS 6.1, a dos-compatible MP3 decoder and my own custom 'dosamp' in QBASIC to bring it all together.

The evolution of the inp and out function have been extended to visual basic. See this web site for a solution. http://www.logix4u.net/inpout32.htm

Thanks for the link, I do seem to recall having found something similar in the past (when I worked with VB 5.0).

http://www.freebasic.net has a free, 99% QB-compatible program with 32-Bit functionality and openGL support.

Regards,
Valentin Angelovski
