that cap, in my opinion, should be enough for everyone to go "WHAT" and look for some other solution.

That is very likely. I have never seen that design on a DC circuit. Only for AC.

Not all circuits found on the net are good circuits. Many of them have not even resulted in any working product - the project died half-way with design material that might look ok but are 100% untested.
