#165000 - slave timing Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Richard,
Per's right. This is definitively a case for a microcontroller or two, sub-$1 each, and the two 74HCxx latches, $0nothing each. Even if the master mcu won't check the busy flag of the module (which is never guaranteed if the master is a "black box"), the use of an other mcu or two allows not only to ensure absolutely correct timing for the slave display, but also allows to use anything other as the slave display: a graphic LCD, a LED dot matrix display (which may be a HUGE one if you want), a VFD (some of them are MUCH nicer than LCDs - OLED dot alphanum modules used to be even nicer, but unfortunately they are not made ever more) or even a PC with say an LCD projector... Jan Waclawek PS. 1602... in the last few months I went across quite a lot of 16x2 LCD modules and was writing and rewriting various related pieces of software, and as many manufacturers mark these modules as XXX1602YYY, I sort of get used to this notation... and use it in source file names, functions and variables names etc... |
