#98557 - Death of the Programmer Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Matthias Arndt said:
Do I understand it right that no programmer except for a standard Max232 and a serial lead is needed and that one can directly load Intel HEX files with any terminal software into the code memory?
If that is really the case than this should be the device of choice for students and hobbyists IMHO. Steve M. Taylor said:
Many, many modern '52s have "ISP" and "IAP" these days, via the UART. Philips, Atmel, Dallas ALL have such devices. This is precisely why so many "I want to build a programmer..." posts are greeted with the "WHY??" response! Building a programmer, and getting it to work reliably is a non-trivial exercise, fraught with pitfalls - why would anyone bother when there's such a wealth of ISP/IAP chips available?! |
