Can't really offer an opinion regarding the parallel uploading from the DS'450 having not done it but your description makes me wonder if perhaps thier IAP architectural implementation is the source of the long upload times you experience.

You make an interesting point that DALLAS really didn't have any history in FLASH technology. Their acquisition by MAXIM didn't add that capability to the firm either. Add to this that MAXIM/Dallas doesn't publish their parallel programming algorithm and you do start to wonder.

A point many forget that the 1st bootloader 8051 was the Dallas SRAM based "Secure Micro" from way back in the mid-80's.
