This saves one to build a special ISP interface and frees the developer from using special programming tools.

Really nice - I like that!
Up to this morning I always thought that ISP did mean custom wire interface like the AT89S5x have. I'm glad that I was wrong and that manufacturers provide a more standard interface!

Btw. I couldn't resist to order some samples of the DS89C420 just t o try it out ;)
