#190074 - Decision made!
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Thanks Erik. After lots of trawling through websites (I found the Avnet site more helpful than SiLabs, even though they show no stock for everything), I pretty much answered my own questions. (Why does SiLabs make easy comparison of their HUGE range of processors so difficult?)

Mouser answered the availibility questions by showing stock levels, so I could easily see what choice I should be making.

I've ordered a couple of toolstick complete kits, another spare daughter board and 5off C8051F850s. So if I've made the wrong choice, I'll soon find out...

I wonder how they lock communication? Surely the UART (P3.0/1) will be under my direct control, and the toolstick can't affect that?

We'll see. Thanks for all the help and particularly, the point towards the F850 which, being new, should have some life. I note that the F700 has a 64B EEPROM that's spec'd to a minimum 300k writes if I can't get around the issue with the '800.

Dave
