#190059 - Thanks
Responding to: ???'s previous message
All, Nice to see that things have not changed on 8052.com during my 'absence'! Still the same 'C' v. asm arguments... ;-)

I'm getting too old for change, and I do have 25 years of perfectly good and fast macros for doing pretty much anything. I like tight code and am a control freak, so need to know EVERYTHING that is going on. Each to his own. I sometimes wish I'd properly learnt a decent high level language when I was younger and could remember such things, but I can't say that C would have been my first choice. To me it seems actually more obscure than assembler 'on the page'. The key is always in the quality of the comments. The only advantage I can see for C (excuse the pun), is its portability. But as we are all 'dyed in the wool' 8051 folks, that is hardly relevant. My son, a computer science major, would think me stupid, of course.

Also pleased to see that SiLabs is still out there and will be my first choice. But thanks for the heads-up Andy - I will investigate the AT89LP51ED2 you mentioned.

Dave
