Why do you hate so large part of humanity? I don't hate anybody! They're not worth the effort! Lots of people can be extremely bright, but prefer to work in a supermarket or similar. Never, ever, make assumptions about who is bright, and who isn't. There is this alternative spelling ass-u-me. It very clearly indicates the result of assumptions. It makes an ass out of you. But maybe you are fine with that. First of all, I'm not at all concerned with what others think of me, though your underlying assumption is incorrect. I've got no problem with people who can and do perform their jobs correctly. However, even though today's cash registers are computer-based and readily spell out the amount of change a cashier is supposed to return, they often fail. My problem in all this lies in that this sort of inattention/stupidity is what makes the "system", whatever it is, break down and the very effect that was previously described as the anticipated consequence of registering a complaint, seldom has any effect. That's because few low-level employees feel it necessary to do anything beyond the minimum they can do, and seldom fail to do even that. The big problem here is that most bad products developed, most wars, fights ... are the result of incorrect assumptions. People ass-u-me that they know things they don't know. Or that they know what someone else knows or is capable of. We'll have to agree to disagree on that. I don't buy that premise at all. Maturity is the human ability to know that we don't know everything, and just have to be openminded. Once you've seen the way in which most cashiers, gas station attendants, etc, at least here in the U.S, attempt to make change, you may change your mind. After all, I'm not making any assumptions. I'm merely commenting on what I see every day. RE |
