#179744 - Different markets
Responding to: ???'s previous message

Microsofts view that they are the actual computer owners, and that we are only allowed to finger on the machines under the strictest of supervision.

To be fair, most users of Windows PCs really should not be allowed to fiddle with their PCs except under the strictest of supervision!

If you don't know about cars, you take your car to a garage to be fixed and serviced. But, for some reason, it is assumed that you have to do everything yourself with a PC - whether or not you have any skill, experience or even interest in doing that!

In the Linux world, root is the king

Most Linux 'root' users are people with the necessary skills, experience, and enthusiasm to manage that responsibility!

But I agree with you that Microsoft have totally failed to allow for the situation where the PC owner/user really is competent to manage their own machine as they like it.
