What I don't like about Win7 is that seasoned old PC users like me have been given the cold shoulder on the user interface :(. Where is everything? Yes, that is a constant problem with Microsoft. "The majority of computer users don't know so much about computers, so we make it hard for every user to find settings or applications that may be dangerous." I have really had to google a lot to find and tweak different features that I could find and tweak blindfolded on an XP machine. Microsoft really should have had a "Yes, I accept the risks, but do let me own my machine. I do not rent it from you, so get the .. out of my face when I want to do something." That feature where they gray out the display when requesting you to acknowledge that program xx wants to make changes to the system is nice. Or would have been nice if I could just add whatever exceptions I feel I need. I don't much like having the GUI locked until I acknowledges that I want to let the Crimson editor do what it want to do. The Microsoft response - but turn off the feature then. But the feature is good - when it picks up unexpected/unknown applications that tries to make changes. It's just that I should be able to check "remember answer" for each specific application. |
