#176362 - Gimme Code: Is it really worth it? |
Hi Everybody,
In another thread, Chico was asking about some "gimme code." I've thought about it, and can't recall ever once being able to just cut and paste a block of code. Whether for a program to run on a PC or firmware to burn into a ยต-controller, it seems that inevitably I find it less trouble to just write from scratch. Is it me? Is there some magic way to hold your mouth when pressing CTRL-V? What has been your experience with "gimme code?" Whether included with a software package, or available online from a library, or emailed directly from one person to another, have any of you ever managed to use "gimme code" that you were able to compile and run with less trouble than you would have invested writing your own? If not, where's the demand for so much "free code," all of it a bargain at half the price, come from? Joe |
