Thanks to everybody, for discussing this subject...particularly, the CT, the DCCT, HallEffect Sensor,etc....

I got the picture; and will use the Hall Effect Sensor for measuring the DC Current of (max.) 1000 Amps.

So, Please cool down, everybody....point is well understood by me (OP)...thank you All.

For another application, I am using a Triac in phase angle firing mode to control the power to the load. I want to record the exact shape of the Current flowing through the SCR. At present I am using a Current Transformer for it.

Can a Hall Effect Sensor work equally well as a Current Transformer?
