#171588 - Suppression Diode for relay
I have a series of DC relays ( Finder 46 Series , 24V dc , single Changeover) controlling solenoids rated at 30W.

While we wire a IN4001 across the solenoid terminal, I am wondering whether I can get away without the freewheeling diode across the relay coil. The reason for this doubt : The relay coil has a non-polarized LED across its terminals. So when the relay is de-energized, will not this LED absorb the back emf from the relay coil ?

Is my assumption right ?

Thanks

Raghu
