The simplest and economic is ESCC.
Get the best Z85C230 from Zilog...increased the crystal till get the highest oscillator that Richard deal.
download some sample code at Internet and modified.
There some Ham's will help.DOS is the pretty common for Ham's.
Serial output ~500 Mbytes(used ISA with dma)

It is ESCC(enhanched serial communication control)..
