I totally agree with ERIK regarding achievable resolution with MCU on chip A/D converters. Using the above type recommendations I have had good luck using the 10-bit coverters in AVR and COLDFIRE parts without going to sleep during conversions. Using the 12-bit converters in SiLabs type parts I realized somewhere maybe 10 - 11 bits at best. In all cases rolling average sampling filters were used. Michael Karas Thanks Michael , for rolling average filter how many samples did you performed the convertion on, for this 10-bit AVR converter? . AVR datasheet says " ±2 LSB Absolute Accuracy" howmany bit accuracy you achieved from 10-bit ADC converter after applying the rolling average filter and without using the Noise reduction. I have used Atmegas only for not so important ADC measurements and they works fine. Regards/ Ap PS: Erik you favours solid plane and Michael favours split , is there any middle path this time ;). |
