#153203 - He did not ask for a DOS, just an OS. Responding to: ???'s previous message |
It's not at all clear what he really wants/needs. I've seldom seen an OS that didn't support some sort of mass-storage, though it certainly doesn't have to be a physical DISK these days.
However, it looks to me as though he wants a user-interface of some sort. After all, he said, "is it possible to make a simple pc with 8051 that have LCD monitor and a keyboard..." which makes no mention of a file system or mass storage, but does say, "...similar to old PCs with a DOS operating system?" which serves only to muddy the water, since, without the mass-storage device, the "old PC" wouldn't boot except to BASIC. Do you suppose he wants BASIC52? I'd guess he just wants a console interface, i.e. a console command interpreter, that works through a keyboard of some sort and an LCD module. If he wants it to work with what we now consider a "common" LCD monitor, he's totally out of luck, I'd guess. RE |
