The erase process does cause wear in flash cells; that is, it causes the cells to degrade - that's why there is only a finite number of erases possible! Basically, the erase process inherently over-stresses the components. But normal reads from flash, and read/write accesses to SRAM, etc, do not cause wear - at least, I'm not aware of any significant wear mechanisms. |
