I agree that a lot of so-called "sample code" does more harm than good, but I wouldn't go as far as to say "Nothing is more deterimental..."
Ok, let me make an exception "sample code", "reference code" is deterimental,"code for educational purposes only" can be beneficial in illustrating a point, never as "teaching" a point. Erik Hi Erik: I feel that good examples in a book such as "The 8051 Microcontroller and Embedded Systems" by Mazidi are helpful to any student trying learn the 8051. He gives good examples of code and tells students to make sure check your instructions of clock cycles and type processor you are using with instruction set. The problem with my learning curve was I had wrong books to start learning 8051 instruction set. Had started with Mazidi book I would be lot better programmer now. Out of all the books I purchased this was the most expensive $110 plus shipping. Also Craig Steiner's book is great help to students. I think I will have to memorize the mcs instruction set to be a better programmer. My other question was how long does take to learn to read other programmers code when they leave comments out on each line of code? Best reguards, Ralph Sack |
