Saying that you don't care about context is kind of like saying you don't care what SFR you wrote 30h to. Context is everything!
I'm not defending Bush in this message, but a pet peeve of mine is when people (in this case ABC News) take someone (in this case President Bush) out of context. Few things irk me more. You're absolutely right, Craig. I apologize for not making my point of view clear. In normal discourse, context is very important. My decision to leave the Republican party was not a knee-jerk reaction to ABC's report. I've been giving it serious consideration for some time, as has my wife. Since I'd pretty much made up my mind prior to reading the report, then in this case the context didn't matter much to me. When viewed in context, it's just another example of Bush in effect saying "agree with me or the bad guys (terrorists) will get you." The boogie man BS didn't work for McCarthy (Communists) and it doesn't work for King George (terrorists). I think his agenda is clear--he wants to be the first Dictator of America, and I will not tolerate it. (Bizarre--after writing that I realized that President of the United States = POTUS becoming Dictator of America = DOA, somehow has a poetic justice to it. :-) |
