#122865 - Ouch Responding to: ???'s previous message |
In any case, the context isn't all that important to me. His remark is just part of a long string of actions he's taken that show just what he really is. Between Bush sticking his foot in his mouth on a regular basis and people not caring about context, it's no wonder his approval rating is where it is. Saying that you don't care about context is kind of like saying you don't care what SFR you wrote 30h to. Context is everything! Here is the entire press conference video. The context is hugely different. The "make it clear what the consequences would be" was said about eight sentences after the "question the patriotism" sentence, and the "consequences" was referring to the fact that people should understand the consequences of a certain policy decision. I'm not defending Bush in this message, but a pet peeve of mine is when people (in this case ABC News) take someone (in this case President Bush) out of context. Few things irk me more. We can't have an honest debate in this country when the media is reporting the president's words in a way that does not represent what he really said, and people that don't care about context just take the media's word for it... and there goes another point or two of support. Few entities in this country do a better job at undermining this president than the media. Even the Democrats aren't as effective as the media at completely turning the people against the president.
