64Kx1 DRAMs, as used in the PC, were costing about $4 each at retail in 1981, IIRC. I know I couldn't get that much for them, even in handfuls in '82.
Once the 256K-bit parts were available, even though they were very costly, by comparison, at first, you could barely give away the 64K-bit parts. Fortunately, there were some motherboards that used 2 rows of each density, else I'd have more of these lying about than I do now. RE |
