Richard you would see such type of posters from this regions because still internet is costly around this parts.IN the metroes its little cheaper but not everybody who has computer can afford it.Most of the students go to cyber cafe's where they look around for materials.And as the pocket money is low we have to search for what we want quickly.Googling takes lot of time for "begineers" to get the proper results and scan them.So they resort to the method done by the OP so they can get data very quickly(such as relevant links).
I suppose richard you understood the problem since i too went through this and resorted to such methods.It was not because i was lazy but because it did not have the cash.
