Going through my junk recently, I found a couple of winbond SMT 8031's inside some 8x and 16x cdrom drives. All I remember was that it appeared to be a 40MHz 8031 part.

Also found that same micro (can't remember the part no.) in an ACER flatbed scanner circa 1996 - looked like it was running the whole show there.
