While the basic principles will remain valid, I think the novice will have a hard time discerning the enduring principles from the out-dated practices - so it probably is best to simply discard this material.

Out of sheer nostalgia I picked up an early 90's or was it late 80's book on electronics from a rack of free boks.
What I learned was that in the days when the variety of components was less much more emphasis was made (because there was room/time?) on signal integrity and such. From of some of the posts seen here and other places, this subject is (at some "institutions of learning") sorely lacking today.

Some stuff e.g. SW I²C, UV erase, Programming in programmers, the need for an expensive ICE (or the hard work of living without one) external memory eating up the processor pins making 8255 (the best solution available in antiquity) needed to regain the lost pins, ..... made me think "oh am I glad we do not have to fight with that today. Todays battles are so much more interesting.
