Issue two is that they don't require a good voltage reference (just low noise on the reference) since they capture relative amplitude and don't care if they have 5% error in absolute values. Especially since the input signal is AC-coupled with a capacitor. Actually, using a voltage reference with an audio ADC is very useful if you need to know the actual voltage level you're capturing. For instance, you may be doing SPL calculations so you need to know the gain structure and the reference and also your measurement microphone's sensitivity. -a |
