#178775 - There is a trick... Responding to: ???'s previous message |
...when handling the BS170: Stick the transistor with all his three wires through a tiny piece of aluminium foil so that all terminals are short circuited. Store the transistor in this way.
When soldering solder the BS170 into the circuit but let the wires rest in the aluminium foil. Only after completely soldering remove the aluminium foil with a tweezer or similar. Don't ever use a BS170 that is not shipped in a special ESD box and be very very very careful when handling the transistor. The gate is such high isolated and the gate source capacitance is such small that even the smallest charge can destroy the transistor!!! Kai Klaas |
