Weliton, If you are only planning to use a character-based display, you could offload a lot of the work onto something like the Maxim MAX7456, which is intended as a composite video overlay generator IC, but will also produce a 16 row x 30 column composite character display. (White characters with a dark background if no video overlay function is needed). You can create custom characters with it as well. Pretty simple to get working, and I have example code. That would eliminate a large portion of the overhead required for video. Just one more idea to put in your pocket... Good luck with your project...I won't debate the validity of using an 8051, and will wish you the best of luck! Sounds fun! |
