I disagree.

The published specs for SD are sufficient to use SD-Cards in applications where top performance is not an issue.

The fact that SD Cards are widely used on other common devices (including PCs) is a great advantage for data interchange (if that's required).

The fact that an SD-Card can simply be popped out of the target amd popped into a PC was a key reason for choosing SD in a recent project I did. It was great!
And simpler than a USB stick!
