#162752 - You still haven't said what you actually want! Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Do you want just a basic modem, or something with several MIPS of raw power for your own application within the unit?
I've not used Multitech as such, but I gather that (some of) their modems have Wavecom inside... The equivalent unit from Wavecom would be the Fastrack Supreme: http://www.wavecom.com/modules/m...ck_Supreme Over here, they're cheaper than the multitech prices given. I think a CDMA version is available. Probably more important is the quality of your local support - if your local Multitech support is excellent, but your local Wavecom distributor is rubbish, then any extra cost in the multitech unit is probably well worth it! (I take it you're not buying enough to go direct to Wavecom?) I am fortunate to have an excellent Wavecom distributor - and the Wavecom FAE is based just up the road, too! BTW: Multitech also do cellular in their "Socket Modem" form-factor... Siemens were well respected for their "Cellular Terminals" (ie, modems); they sold-off the business and it's now called Cinterion: http://www.cinterion.com/home.html I imagine that the products themselves remain the same, and I know that my local distributor is still the same - and also very good. |
