#185798 - It's because of their scale Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Foxconn and other ultra-huge manufacturers in the PRC have enormous labor forces which they often house in large dormitories at or immediately near their plant. They can call this labor force into action whenever it is needed, e.g. when a change/revision is to be implemented, at any time, day or night, which is something unheard of in the West. That gives them a tremendous advantage, in addition to which they pay their manufacturing labor force very little, as they pay then on a piece-rate rather than for time.
It's not likely any manufacturer in the West will compete with that arrangement, so they simply have to adjust their business practices accordingly. The manufacturers in the PRC aren't stupid, so they do maintain standards of quality specified by their customers. Unfortunately, if the quality isn't specified-in, it won't be manufactured-in either. RE |
