No, it isn't.

There is no particular reason, in general, why a PC should be more or less tolerant of erros than anything else.

Of course, in a specific case, it might just happen that things conspire so that the PC just happens to work and the 8051 just happens not to...

Draw yourself some diagrams with the 16x baud rate clock and 3 sample points, and then try lining that up with some data patterns made with (slighly) incorrect bit timings...
