#178960 - Serial port, serial to USB and framing/voltage issues
I have 2 USB ports in my LAPTOP. I have a Prolific USB 2.0 serial to USB adaptor.

I have two controller cards with serial ports 9one developed in PC, and the other in SILABS). Baud rate is 2400.

1. when we link USB port1 to Prolific USB-SERIAL to PIC board, we don't get a connection. when you link USB port2 to Prolific USB-SERIAL to PIC board, we have proper connection.

2. when you link USB port1 or port 2 to Prolific USB-SERIAL to SILABS board, we get proper connection.

why is that, when we change the USB port, we do not get a connection with PIC board for the same usb-serial cable, where as for the silabs board, we get connection in both cases?

(In PIC board I use MAX232 SMD and in Silabs, DIP through hole - 5 volts supply 4.7 microfarad caps. Both the boards are developed by me. Did not check the baud rate accuracy, but reload values are as per datasheet, and the errors are within 0.2 percent. Even if the errors are of opposite polarity, why is the PIC card working with USB port 1 and not 2?. )

Please comment and guide..
