#171747 - Well, it's melting now, but we've had some snow too Responding to: ???'s previous message |
You probably are aware that Denver, Colorado, here in the U.S, is at an elevation of about 1600 meters, and, because of its elevation and location near the mountains, snow is not uncommon. In fact we've had a cold snap recently, from which we've been recovering this week. This week, the temperature is on the order of 10-15 degrees C, while last week it was around 0 Farenheit, with a high for the day of somewhere in the teens or low twenties, Farenheit.
I'm not tired of the weather. I'm completely tired of all the Christmas-this and Christmas-that on the TV, Radio, newspaper, etc. That is a lovely picture of that snow-bearing evergreen outside your window. The similar trees here at my house were that size when I planted 'em 50-odd years ago. In fact, both of them were once potted Christmas trees. Now they're about 15 meters high and quite massive. It's the frenzy among commercialists that drives me nuts! They'd probably sell more if they promoted the holiday as what it initially was, namely a 12-day period of revisiting old and engaging new friends, sharing a little of whatever we've got, and making as merry as one can, circumstances notwithstanding. Some folks might even be given to presenting gifts without a specific reason/deadline. I've done that for years. RE |
