If Kiran is right with what he said, and I have no doubt, that he is...

There are 2 classic cases: Weighing scales and Moving message displays.
Moving message displays was originally designed by some retired military person from Pune, and you could find 80% of Moving Message displays having the same functions, peripherals, SerialPortprotocol, Fonts, etc...They even have the same design problems in all of them. But in the last 2 years, I have seen many new people who have genuinely developed and brought better products than those I could see before. I think people have really started to develop and improve their designs. But the important point is they all agree that the CPU must be MCS51. So MCS51 is going to be there atleast for the next 10 years; and 8052.com will make it atleast 25 years....I am sure about that. ...then, there might be a huge market for reverse engineering of "moving message displays"! This would explain why these guys are in such a hurry: The first who brings this display gets all the money... Maybe we should add a new category: "RI" for "Reverse Ingeneering"? Kai Klaas |
