In this case, a title so blatantly useless as "help me" could easily be spotted automatically, and not allowed at all.

In the more general case, it is hard to automatically detect trolls and other time-wasters - but, if the scores were well-defined and well-used, they could be used to form a consensus of forum members and automatically suspend any thread that got a score of, say, -3 or worse...

In that case, a standard email could automatically be sent advising the OP how to correct the issue, and re-open the thread.

That way, the OP gets the advice and a chance to retry without wasting any bandwidth at all on the forum.
