Can't you make a piggyback print for the oscillator? Then size of 74HC04 wouldn't count too much.

Ap is right with a transistorized oscillator, but a Colpitt-oscillator also needs a some parts, like resistors and caps, not resulting in much saved board area.

With 74HC04 the size is bigger than osc.module.
I'm looking 5/6 pins chip oscillator.
